SYNOPSIS

Jack and Charlie are an unlikely pairing in this dark comedy bromance set in a small town in the north of England. Jack is a loud, rugged, uncouth but loveable fuck up with a gift for playing pool under the influence. Then there’s Charlie is a professional hustler, handsome, charming, calculating and dangerous in and out of the pool hall. Charlie stumbles across Jack and sees a potential hustle opportunity, Charlie dupes Jack into working together and going on a tour of pool halls by putting Jack in his debt. So, they join forces for a trip around pool halls and bars hustling which inevitably ends badly, this is largely down to Jack’s erratic, unpredictable conduct when playing pool and his predilection for heavy drinking.

Jack has a family that he feels he can never go back to and blames his natural gift for playing pool, blaming the game as his ruin. Charlie also has a troubled past and isn’t quite the sensible, levelheaded charmer he makes out to be. More importantly Jack has a secret which challenges everything Charlie loves about his beloved game of pool. Both are lowdown cheats and despicable human beings but try not to fall in love with them.

Imagine a comedy version of ‘The Color of Money’ but set in a small British town in the style of a modern-day spaghetti western, where pistols are swapped for pool cues.
